My fyp project is actually quite interesting
it's a collaboration with the tropcial marine institute of st john
i would go to the shores of st john
and pick up the marine snails and dissect them under microscope to draw out the
material for my analysis.

As with any projects i met challenges also.
this material is very little in each snail.
To do one simple X ray powder i got to sacrifice 50 snails at least.
But i really thank God that my prof got a part time Master student to belp me.
Not only he has a very good and willing attitude and offer to do the extraction for me and making those field trips but that he also has a research grant.
So combining with my grant i will have about 1200 dollars to spend for this project.

Unlike my counterparts I dun have a fixed machine nor a fixed lab.
I run from lab to lab in NUS using many different instruments and techniques
which can get quite cool.
Some of these are real sophisticated and expensive like Scanning electron microscope X ray analysis, powder X ray, inductively coupled mass spec etc.
And best of all becasue these instruments are so expensive and high tech i can't operate it and the lab tech will have to do it for me. :)
Although i got to pay for those usage and services.

Furthermore for this project i have altogether 2 Profs (1 NUS and 1 St John), 3 graduate students (2 for giving advice and helping with me the techniques and 1 helping me with the field work). Thank God for all the help and I just pray that all the analysis will come up to be good.

I think many fyp students will agree with me that i m really quite blessed to have so many help and more fund.

This is just a random post although i know many of u would probably get lost and bored.
