fallen sick over the past few days...
maybe Singapore is too clean
and i need time to adapt to it...
In any case I felt like i m missing beijing
last week at this time i m climbing the Great Wall. ha
This trip had been more than what i had expected.
Let's see I have been to the Forbidden City, Great Wall, Heavenly Altar, the 2 Olympics Stadium, 798 Arts District, the Ming Tomb, The 3 major temples, the major shopping districts like Wang Fu Jin, Silk Street, Xi dan, the Tian An Men Square and the Summer Palace (Yi He Yuan) and more...
Let's categorize the events...
the place of interest that amazes me most goes to...
: the Forbidden City and the Heavenly Altar
I enjoyed these 2 places the most...
We visited the Forbidden City and Heavenly Altar on a slightly rainy day.
These place are huge and so majestic...
the architecture, the sheer size and the materials used
were all the best...
After the visit of the Forbidden City, I was so tempted to rewatch my Huan Zhu Ge Ge.
The Heavenly Altar was also very cool.
The open space on such a high altitude + the cold wind of the rain blowing against... the sense of freedom is just too great.
Let's talk about food...
: the food here is really good and cheap!
the best part is no GST and service charge!
you pay for what you see...
Shopping...
- Once again i was the silent killer on this trip
initially i kept my calm... din really shop a lot..
then on one or 2 days i went out and boom...
i think i was once again the champion on this trip...
the most important thing i learn on this trip
is to really bargain especially when you went to Silk Street
the discount is as huge as 80%. trust me!
Before i forget
i got to see the pandas as well! they were so adorable....
i also saw the pandas that were being rescued from Sichuan...
8 of them so lazy and cute...
Also apart from the Great Wall of China
there exists an intangible Great Firewall of China as well.
All blogs sites (and i mean ALL) are blocked.
Facebook and Friendster are still ok when i left (they may blocked soon).
Anything related to Christianity are quite hard to find.
But the government is more tolerant of churches now
provided you register with them.
I went to this church that only accepts vistors with foreign passports.
It was not bad in my opinion.
and the surprise is that the speaker of this church is
Pst Kong's senior from RI.
ha.. if u r going to beijing for long term
u can contact me for their address...
For this trip I am glad that i have a very good roommate with me
She is one of the most easy going gal to live with...
and also my team and the rest of the group...
the 2 weeks were wonderful with them.
And thanks to jeff and matt who fetched me from the airport!
i had so many shopping bags with me that
i was telling my friends i have faith to carry them back
and they were my faith! lol...
It was fun while it lasts.
but i was also missing my family, frens and dear.
I thank God i m back in one piece.
and of course i miss the house of God!
felt so at home when i went to church on sunday...
Thank God for all the good things in life!
